Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in New Delhi on Thursday evening for a two-day state visit to India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi set aside protocol to welcome him at the Palam airport.
After landing, the leaders will depart for PM Modi’s residence for dinner. The one-on-one conversation is expected to continue until about 8.30 PM. After the meeting, the Russian leader will return to his hotel for the night.
NEW DELHI, INDIA – Russian President Vladimir Putin arrives in India for the annual India-Russia summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is beginning his 2-day visit to India on Thursday (December 4, 2025) for the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This is his first visit to India in four years. The talks between the two leaders are expected to focus on boosting defence ties, insulating bilateral trade from external pressure and exploring cooperation in small modular reactors.
Ahead of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to India, New Delhi has signed $2 billion deal with Moscow to lease a nuclear-powered submarine. According to a report by Bloomberg, the deal was stalled over price negotiations and now with an agreement in place, the date of delivery has also been finalised. Indian officials had even visited a Russian shipyard last month as part of the deal.
