Homemade Amish Breakfast Buffet — Is Yoder’s Worth the Trip?

Today we visit Yoder’s Restaurant & Buffet in New Holland, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania to experience their famous homemade Amish breakfast buffet.

Unlike the massive tourist smorgasbords in the area, Yoder’s is known by locals for doing things differently. This buffet is not about having hundreds of items. It is about homemade quality, comfort food, and unique dishes you don’t see everywhere.

We try a colorful handmade crêpe covered in strawberry, peach, and blueberry toppings, a custom omelette made to order, corn fritters, potato pancakes, Mexican hash, in-house baked donuts, the famous Amish mush, scrapple, and all the classic breakfast favorites. When you order coffee, they even bring a full pitcher to your table.

After recently visiting the world’s largest breakfast buffet at Shady Maple, we wanted to see what happens when you trade size for homemade quality.

Is a smaller Amish breakfast buffet actually better?
