Accurately gathering and using data to understand and address global health issues is critical. This training session will:

– Review the definitions of ratios, rates, proportions, morbidity, mortality, incidence and prevalence
– Review the uses of health data
– Discuss how cultural beliefs and values impact health behaviors
– Review the five major health status indicators and how they relate to global health
– Review two major burden of disease measurement tools: HALE and DALYs
